Work Diary 7
This photograph was taken out on location and is for my project of personal comment. The photograph represents personal comment because it shows the beauty of nature. This has been shown through the fresh and bright purple's and greens. The photograph also shows depth of field from where the two flowers at the front are fully focused and then the background is blurred. This is very affective as it creates the stunning flowers in focus to show its beauty. I really like how this photograph is very clear and how it was taken when the sun was shining directly on the flowers to give it a warming and summer feel to its. The sun also brings out the different tones of nature and makes the photograph more captivating to look at. The editing of levels and curves has increased the sharpness of this photograph and made it look professional. However the angle of the photograph was slightly slanted to the left there fore I used the ruler tool to even it up as much as possible. This is one of my favourite photographs I have taken so far.

This photograph is also a location shot for my project of personal comment. This photograph represents personal comment of how nature is beautiful as well as the flower shaped as a heart to show how nature should be loved and not destroyed. The technique I used for this photograph was selective colour this was to bring out the pastel pinks and yellow colours centred around the soft white petals. This photograph shows nature to be very graceful and pretty through the delicateness of the flowers. This photograph was taken very well as the flowers are framed and positioned in the centre with the black and white background behind it to give it a vintage effect. The low angle shot allows the person viewing this photograph to see the flowers from its petals all the way through to the centre where the colour stands out.
If I would go and add to this location shoot I would of taken more photographs of different flowers and would of taken flowers with the background of the sky in to show the contrast of nature.

This studio photograph has been taken for my project of personal comment. This photograph shows this as it represents how crime is increasing in our country. Also how crime has become very complex and many people in society who commit a crime are very clever at not getting found out. This photograph was edited in black and white to show the negativity and danger of crime. Also to show the stereotype of the black and white stripes which is a stereotypical outfit for prison outfits. These stripes represent the outcome of crime. The sign has been designed and used to make sure the consumers viewing this photograph understand that this photograph's theme is crime as its a stereotypical word that is used for this theme. I directed Demi who I have taken this photograph of to keep a serious and emotionless face this again is showing the representation of crime and how photographs in the real world are taken when people in society go to prison.
This studio photograph has also been taken for my project of personal comment and has been taken to represent the actions of crime. This is through the gun aiming directly at the camera. I have edited this to blur out Demi's body and face so that the main focus is on the gun. This creates this photograph to be harsh and show threat through the gun being aimed forward as if its aiming at who ever is looking at this photograph. The back drop I chose was black this is so that the stereotypical black and white stripes are shown very clear and stand out. The gun has been positioned to almost cover up Demi's face this is to cover her identity and show that anyone is capable of committing a crime.
If I would go back and add to this studio shoot I would of taken more photographs to have more to chose from and would of taken more photographs using the gun as a prop.

Work Diary 5
This photography studio shoot was for my project personal comment. This photograph is showing domestic abuse through the dark and sinister back drop. The bruises and black eyes have been edited from the burn and dodge tool this makes the photograph realistic and will create the viewer to sympathise with this serious theme of domestic abuse. The sign that I made has the quote 'He says it won't happen again' this is a very deep quote and brings out the thoughts that she is thinking but without saying them because in real life the women that get abused are to scared to escape and tell people what they are going through. I directed my model 'Lauren' do stand really weak and have a serious expression on her face this is to show no emotion and let the words show the message. I feel that this photograph is very affective and is framed very well making sure that darkness of the black back drop surrounds her. All these points above make this photograph very negative.
This photograph is also for my project personal comment and shows the use of shadows to represent domestic abuse. The action on the left is representing the abuse and what causes the pain, bruises and cuts. I positioned the arm to show as much strength and rage through clenching her fist and arm. The right side of the photograph shows the shadowing of fear and the action to attempt to stop herself from being abused .The actual shadow has been taken to show weakness through the vulnerability of the action. I chose the white back drop because it has allowed the black shadows to be seen better and stand out.
If I would go back and add to this domestic abuse should I would of taken photographs with written messages on her hands and photographs where she is hiding herself more. However I can photograph these ideas in another shoot.

Work diary - shoot 4
This photograph is for my project personal comment and is the personal comment of the contrast of the healthy and beauty of nature to the dying, wilted nature. This has been presented through a photo joiner this was to show creativity in my work. I chose to edit the beauty side of nature with brightness and the dying nature changing the hue and saturation to get a off colour to show oldness. Each individual photograph has been sized the same to make this photo joiner professional. To improve this photograph I would of taken more photographs of the beauty side of nature as there was more photograph for the other side of nature leaving a different ratio when looking at this photograph.
If I would go out and add to this location shoot I would search for more photographs to take as the weather was raining therefore brighter and sunnier weather will be easier for me to capture more photographs.

Work diary- shoot 3
This photograph is for my project of personal comment and was taken in the studio. This photograph again shows the transformation and change from each era of fashion. This style is for the 90's and has been presented in the technique of repetition. This makes the photograph more appealing to look at. This photograph has been edited using the normal curves and levels to adjust the brightness but as well as converting two of the photographs to black and white. This makes this photograph unique and a different way to present the fashion of the 90's. I really like the position that Demi is standing in which is either going inwards or outwards this makes the photograph look interesting and shows my creative side.
If I would go back and improve this shoot I would take more photographs standing up as I'm limited of choice to edit these however the sitting down photographs I have a range of photographs to pick and edit.
Work diary- shoot 2
This photograph is part of my personal comment project as it represents homeless people who are in poverty. The reason I chose to use two of the photographs in the background and lowered the opacity is to show my personal comment of how people in poverty on the streets are invisible and society need to realise this. I also chose to convert this photograph to black and white because this fits the duel and sad life that people in poverty live in because they don't have any chances in life to escape and build a better life. To improve this photograph I could of changed the thin scarf wrapped around to a plain one because this shows poverty to a deeper level instead of showing style. This is the reason I blacked out the scarf at the front. Overall I feel this photograph fits in well with my personal comment project.
This photograph was also taken in the studio and represents poverty and homeless people. I really like the position Beth has been photographed in as it shows the vulnerability and weakness as she is looking downwards. This could represent her giving up in life. I chose to keep the colours in this photograph this is because the back drop of the grey background stands out better with this photograph in colour. To improve this photograph I could of taken this photograph not as close up to show her arms wrapped around her to emphasis coldness.
If I could go back and improve this studio shoot I would choose a different lighting and would take more photographs as this was my first shoot and didn't go to plan as I wanted it to be.

Work diary- shoot 1
This photograph I took was for my personal comment project showing my view on domestic violence. I especially like the high angle I took this photograph at because it shows darkness around her eyes to show that she has lost her identity through the violent incidents she has had to suffer with. To take this photograph I used the spot light to create a sinister look to the photograph this has allowed the light to make her injuries stand out and this is what makes this photograph disturbing to look at. To edit this photograph I lowered the hue and saturation and used both the burn tool and changing the opacity and Gaussian blur to add hints of colour into the bruises. This shows the physical pain she has to deal with but can also be conveyed as herself self harming herself because of the distress of getting abused.
My second photograph I'm going to evaluate is the photograph I took in the studio. This photograph represents domestic abuse and the fear women have when the men become very intimidating. I like the way I took this photograph where Demi representing the women is close up and Josh representing the man is further in the background to show threat and control over the women. Where as Demi has more light shone on her to emphasis her facial expression of sadness and her bruises that have scarred her for life even if they are going to heal. This photograph was edited using the normal curves and levels but again lowering the hue and saturation and using the burn and dodge tool to get the different dark and light tones.
If I could go back and improve this studio shoot I would focus more on the photographs with both Josh and Demi as I only took a few where as the individual ones of Demi I had a lot of. Also I would of taken more photograph because my contact sheet wasn't as long as I wanted it to be to give me more options to edit with.

Photographer 1
I picked 'Banksy' because he is a UK graffiti artist who remains unknown. His work expressed serious and important incidents that society judged or needed to be told about. His graffiti art that was focusing on stereotypes I am especially inspired by as it relates to my personal comment project and is something I'm going to create in my own way.
This photograph shows a women dressed in a maids outfit cleaning with her broom behind her. This shows the stereotypical women who is the house wife who does the cooking and cleaning for the male gender. This photograph has meaning to show society that this isn't always the case and how society can sometimes be brain washed to believe this. The graffiti has been created amazingly and shows personal comment of stereotypes very well in my eyes. This photograph has been presented on a wall for society to walk past and decided the message they want to gain from it. Therefore mine is that Banksy has specifically created this to show how this is a main stereotype in society and by the women staring at you when you view the photograph shows the anger she feels about being stereotyped as this.
This photograph is showing the stereotype of African American's and stereotyping there pop culture through there appearance. This is done by the costume of baggy top and chunky bling as well as the facial expression of having a strong attitude. By designing this stereotype creating a child causes this art to be shocking towards society. It also ruins the vulnerability of children and makes the viewers deeply think about the meaning behind this photograph and the choices he has made.
The stereotype is showing how teenagers are always portrayed to be wearing the iconic hoodie and track suit bottoms. Banksy as created this by not showing the teenagers face this shows that the message behind this piece of art is that teenagers who wear these clothes could be a boy or girl, horrible or loving everyone is different and the way society stereotype teenagers who wear these clothing to be rebellious children is wrong. The way this photograph has been created by a rough location on a wall makes this stereotype even more realistic.
This photograph is showing the stereotype of gender as its showing that all women are maids and are perfect house wife's who cook, clean and look after the children. Also that the stereotype for men are that the male gender are the only ones who go into army. However this piece of art is showing the young women having control over the strong man. This is done to confuse society and show that something one person expresses most people will agree and believe as well. This piece of art has been created very well and I really like how the colours match the stereotypes as pink is stereotypically a girls colour.
Banksy's work will influence me with my own project which is personal comment because the key features of the stereotypes he has used I will create in my own way. The way he has presented them in different locations will help with my understanding of each stereotype.
Overall I take a huge interest in Banksy's work and the messages he brings across involving stereotypes will help me with my own project. The tones colours and the location he has presented them in are my favourite part of his designing. Lastly as Bansky is an unknown graffiti artist makes these photograph even more adventurous and fascinating to read and create your own meaning.

Research Log- personal comment
Vasil Germanov
This photograph was taken and presented in a Bulgarian magazine depicting that even glamorous women can be a victim of domestic abuse. This photograph was part of a controversial 12 magazine spread and was linked with a campaign against domestic abuse. This photograph links very well to my topic of domestic abuse as its aimed at women as well. I like how this editor has included text in this photograph and the chosen colours complement each other very well not taking any focus of the cause of this photograph. The beaten eye looks very realistic which allows people in this situation to relate to this photograph and stand up for themselves.
Banksy
This photograph was created by 'Banksy' who is an unknown artist . This photo is inspiration for my topic of sterotypes in my personal comment project because this photograph shows an obvious message of sterotypes this is because it the artist 'Banksy' has stereotyped African Americans and there pop culture and what society thinks of them.

Chris Sanders
Chris sanders captured this photograph in 2011. He particularly worked with models that had acting experience as then they could create his photography to look realistic and this will allow his viewers to feel the pain that the model are presenting. This photograph shows domestic abuse and the stress that women who are victims of this have to go through. I really like how the hand is not focused but the models face isn't to show her face as a symbol of the fear and distress this women is going through.

Chelsea White
http://www.chelseawhite.co.uk/#/beauty---make-up/RomySimpkins-040-EditWEB
Chelsea White is a photographer and makeup artist. She focuses on beauty, fashion and portraits which she captures very well. The message I get from her makeup beauty photographs are that makeup give a girl confidence and make them feel better about there appearence. This is shown through facial expression and how makeup creates the models to look flawless. However this could have a negative affect on young girls as they could get frustrated because they cant reach the expectations of the models.
Eric Myer
Eric Myer had created a project called 'stereotype edition' this is when he has taken photographs of all different styles of clothing and all different ethnicity's and cultures this is so that the consumers can interact with his photographs and choose what style and face they would like to match. This project shows the message that stereotypes aren't true and that anyone can contain a feature that doesn't match there stereotype.
Tim Zeipekis
Tim Zeipekis shows hierarchy through this photograph by using nature to symbolise and represent this. I like the depth of this photograph as it shows the status and makes the photograph more interesting to look at. The black and white effect makes the misty atmosphere stand out more. Overall I really like this photograph and how it has a hidden message using nature.
Becca Wonderland
This photograph shows the personal comment on eating disorders. The message of this photograph is that the tape measurer is wrapped around her hands representing hand cuffs showing that once people start getting conscience about there weight they cant escape. I like the black back drop in this photograph as it makes the tape measure stand out. The close up framing of this shot is very different and interesting to look at.
Scherle photography
This photograph represents the personal comment of having a fit and healthy body in contrast with being conscience about it. The location of this shoot is very creative and stands out from the photograph. I like how this photograph has been taken from a low angle to show the whole of this models body.
Birte Ragland
This photograph represents the personal comment of poverty. In this photograph the photographer has taken a picture of real life poverty which makes this photograph more hard hitting. This photograph also involves children which makes this photograph more weak and vulnerable. I like how the setting shows the theme straight away and the clear lighting brings out the emotions that these two young children are feeling which will make the audience sympathise with this photograph instantly.
Jen Busse
This photograph represents personal comment of domestic abuse and shows that women who are abused don't have a voice. The message of this photograph is that they are easily silenced and that they need to speak up and get help. I like how bold her features are and the closeness of the shot this allows the audience to feel her pain.
MKS- Photography
This photograph shows the personal comment of domestic abuse. I think this photograph shows this very well through the sign saying 'Are you happy now?' this is a very strong and hard hitting message that audiences can relate to. Her facial expression and edited cuts and bruises look very realistic and match the theme of abuse. Also I like the black and shadowy background as it suits this dark topic.
Discussion- Personal Comment
The project that I have chosen to do is personal comment. I chose this because when I was creating my mind map the ideas I had were expanding the more I planned different shoots. It also is personal therefore I can put my own thoughts and emotions into my work.
The first Idea that I came up with was 'domestic abuse' personal comment relates to this as most women don't have the voice or confidence to speak up and escape from there fear and unhappiness. My photographs would express the damage that their abuser does to there appearance physically and mentally. Domestic abuse is incidents which involve threatening behaviour and violence regardless of gender and sexuality. Domestic abuse is a very intimidating situation and at least 1 in 4 women experience domestic violence in their lifetime and between 1 in 8 and 1 in 10 women experience it annually. The reason I am photographing representations of women who suffer with domestic abuse is because research shows that domestic violence is most commonly experienced by women and perpetrated by men. Domestic abuse is committed mainly as the abuser wants power and control.
To show this I'm going to use dark back drops and edit the photograph to look graphic to show the pain these women have to deal with.
My second idea is the theme of poverty this relates to my project of personal comment because poverty is something that society ignores and people in poverty are starting to become invisible. My photography is going to focus on global poverty and how there life is affected by it. Nearly half of the worlds population live on $2.50 a day and 1 billion children are poverty this shows how serious poverty is and can massively affect there health as they want have the money to afford treatment which could result in death. To show poverty in my photography I'm going to use harsh tones and innocent's to show the viewers the sadness and desperateness of the people in poverty and to get them to stand up and help or sympathise with my photography. My photograph will each shows a message about poverty and how different people can be affected in different ways.
Another idea I had which made me chose personal comment as my project was the idea of showing my personal comment in fashion and how each style has transformed and changed for each era. The styles I would like to focus on are the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's this is because the style for each one is totally different and shows huge personality as well. Fashion is a popular or the latest style of clothing, hair, decoration, or behaviour. Each of these features will be shown in my photograph and I will present my work showing the contrast between each one. For example the 60's will be presented in black and white as colour wasn't shown in photographs in them times. Each style will show the personal comment on the individualisation and uniqueness of fashion and how it can makes someone who they are.
In contrast with this topic is how young teenagers especially are conscience about there body and weight when this shouldn't be a worry to them as making life memories should be more important as this creates happiness. In some cases when mainly teenage girls get very conscience about there body they decided to stop eating or watch there calories very carefully this can result in serious cases of anorexia. To show this in my work an idea I have will be to take close ups of the scales and low angle point of view shoots showing the girls feet on the scales and her face hidden to show her insecurities.
Although the ideas above involve human the environment is something that would fit well with my project of personal comment. This is because the environment is something that not a lot of people realise there harming. I have researched and found out that every ton of paper that is recycled saves 17 trees, 2 barrels of oil, 1,400 kilowatts of energy and 60 pound of air pollution. To show this in my photography an idea of presenting my work in a grid method or photo joiner to show the contrast of how plants and the environment are healthy and unharmed to the ruined and wilted plants and environment. These shoots will be captured in locations as this will bring out the message much clearer and will be example of what's happening to the environment in our world which will make the photographs very realistic.
Stereotypes are another topic that will relate to my project of personal comment this is because society have so many representations of certain social groups, cultures, age and gender that there will be endless photographs and ideas that I can expand on to show personal comment in this topic. Stereotypes are a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. For example a punk teenager boy or girl is stereotyped to wear black, have wacky hair and dark makeup with a rebellious attitude and listen to punk/rock music. Someone like this is possible to be alive however not all people who have the appearance like this are 'punks' and can be simply a kind and caring person. An idea for stereotypes is to hold signs with rhetorical questions or statements about specific stereotypes and present them in a grid method as single photographs or in a short video clip with music to show a versatility in my photography work.

The first Idea that I came up with was 'domestic abuse' personal comment relates to this as most women don't have the voice or confidence to speak up and escape from there fear and unhappiness. My photographs would express the damage that their abuser does to there appearance physically and mentally. In some cases when mainly teenage girls get very conscience about there body they decided to stop eating or watch there calories very carefully this can result in serious cases of anorexia. To show this in my work an idea I have will be to take close ups of the scales and low angle point of view shoots showing the girls feet on the scales and her face hidden to show her insecurities.Although the ideas above involve human the environment is something that would fit well with my project of personal comment.

This photograph has been designed and created by the famous unknown identity of 'Banksy' this photograph represents how this is society's personal comment on what teenagers dress like and act like. By using a boy automatically makes the photograph look intimidating. This shows a shallow side to society as not all teenagers where the stereotypical hoodies, baggy t-shirts and have the gangster look. This piece of art has been presented on a wall for society to see and to attempt to get people to reflect on how they jump to conclusions with 'Teenagers'. The facial expression that this boy has makes the stereotype of 'Teenagers' seem true. overall I feel that this photograph is very affective at bringing across the personal comment on stereotypes. Through the sarcasm of what society believe is true.
This photograph is showing personal Comment of domestic abuse. This is a very affective photograph as its showing domestic abuse through a close up of a hand with a deep message. Instead of the severe and disturbing outcome that abuse leaves. This photograph has been taken very well as the hand is in focus and the women has been unfocused to show herself hiding from reality and the domestic abuse. The message on the hand says 'Us' this implies that this doesn't just happen to one person but frequently. The brightness of this photograph is to getting the viewers attention and reflect on how someone's life can be simply ruined by awful experience they never disserved to have. The message has been written in black font to show how domestic abuse is a dark topic and isn't a joke. Overall I especially like this photograph and it will be a inspiration for my own project of personal comment.
This photograph shows the personal comment on friendship and how its something that brings people together and creates happiness. This photograph is in black and white this brings out the tones of the photograph very well. The black and white effect is very light and calming which reflects the message of friendship as its a happy and positive thing. The use of young children in this photograph creates this photograph to be adorable and sweet and shows that the friendship has no limits. It also shows that they have so many memories to make as they grow up in life. The angle that this photograph has been taken in I especially find captivating as it gets the stunning view and doesn't show the children's faces so can symphasis with anyone who has that one friend they absolutely adore.
This photograph is showing the personal comment of how girls can be very conscience about there weight and body. This photograph has been taken very well as the photograph was taken the same level as the women's feet and scales this makes sure the photograph gets the quality needed to make this photograph interesting to look at. By taking it at a diagonal angle makes the photograph unique and seeing the scales numbers in as well to emphasis that women fear of the number that they weigh more then there future. The lighting is very fresh and light which makes this photograph very eye catching.

Image Bank- Personal Comment
Domestic Abuse

This photograph was taken by the photographer 'Tyler Shields' and his aim for this photograph was to show a beauty editorial with domestic abuse hi lighted with her black eye that looks very swollen and bruised. This photograph is very shocking as you wouldn't think that beautiful women would suffer with domestic abuse in there life's. If this was placed in a fashion and beauty magazine this would be the last photograph that people would notice as it shows a damaged ugly side to a women. This photograph is stereotyping a women and how they are a typical house wife and once there beauty is destroyed they turn very conscious and frightened. Domestic abuse happens frequently every day and society need to realise that it doesn't just affect there appearance but there inside as well. The black background is very captivating as it brings out the women s abuse and beauty. Furthermore the fact that the women s skin, hair, makeup and dress looks very perfect and then her bruised swollen eye is imperfect conveys that even if a women looks happy and healthy with herself this could be a cover up to her real identity. This photograph is very sharp and taken at a high quality. The use of writing on this photograph with the title ' Victim of Beauty' summaries the whole message that I feel that 'Tyler Shields' is showing to his audience. The use of the dress being red has conations of danger and blood which reflects the topic of domestic abuse.
This photograph shows the innocents of a women and how there fear stops them from standing up for themselves and finding help. The main focus in this photograph is the card board sign saying 'Are you happy now' this is a very deep and sinister message that is very hard hitting to read. The use of a cardboard sign in this photograph makes the photograph look very harsh. The way the models head is tilted to the side and her expression looks very cold indicates how frightening domestic abuse really is. The sore black eye is very realistic and is the reason this women is holding this sign. The use of the shadowy black background is very dark and mysterious which reflects this topic as its a very violent but the abuser is very mysterious and manipulates the women to fear to tell someone. All the colours in this photograph are negative as domestic abuse is a negative topic. This photograph links to my project of personal comment as its showing the photographers personal view on domestic abuse and how they feel that women who are domestically abused have the strength to get help but the damage and distress they go through causes them to hide whats really happening in there life's.
This photograph shows personal comment in photography because the action of the women with her finger over her mouth which implies her being silent. This shows that the abuser has controlled her to keep quite and not go for help. This shows not just how the abuser is represented as a monster but how when women are physically and mentally damaged there confidence and happiness goes from being extremely high to the lowest it could ever be. This photograph is very well framed as there is no excessive space and her face is is correctly positioned in the centre. The dark brown background reflects the hidden abuse that this women is represented to be to scared to escape from. The reason I feel that the abuser isn't shown in this photograph is because he is a secret identity this is shows how guilty he is which is a weakness in my eyes. This photograph is very simple and the drained expression this women has on her face shows she has given up.
This photograph shows the topic of domestic abuse through the after pain that this women has. The photograph is of a women laying in a hospital looking at her face in the mirror. This shows how this women is a very brave women as looking at all the cuts and bruises must bring back experiences she doesn't want to remember. This photograph is in black and white which brings out the dark and light tones in this photograph. The angle of this photographer has been taken looking up at this women this allows us as the viewer to establish where she is and to see her facial expression of being very delicate and shocked with the pain she has been through. The black and white tones also show the dark times she had been through. This photograph links to my project of personal comment as it shows the personal comment on domestic abuse and how even though the cuts and bruises don't last all there life's the experience will always be the weakness of them.
Poverty
This photograph represents the personal Comment topic of poverty. This photograph shows a women who is sitting in an abandoned room with wooden furniture and worn out walls. The facial expression she has on her face is very lost and cold. The women is on her own which shows she could be lonely. The way this photograph has been framed and taken is the women on the right hand side with all the furniture taking up most of the photograph. This could infer that she is a very small person who most people ignore and don't realise that she is in need of desperate help. This photograph is in black and white which could reflect this women s sadness and loneliness. Furthermore also by this photograph looking tightly compact could emphasis how society is so much bigger then this women who is seen to be invisible.
This photograph is of a young innocent girl sitting on the a concrete slab. The area she is in looks very poor this is shown by the small shelters in the background. This photograph is in black and white to show the negative and poor life this young girl has grown up into. However the facial expression of this young girls is very happy as she is smiling. This shows that this young girl is very strong even though she is in poverty the life she is living she is living to the fullest. This angle and position that this photograph has been taken shows the young girl very close up and is the main focus of this photograph. This photograph shows the photographers personal comment on how even though poverty is a very negative situation this young girl is representing the strength that they all have and how smiling changes a whole picture.
This photograph shows children in poverty and how there is no escape for them. The photographer has chosen children because they will make this photograph much more affective through there vulnerability and innocence. This photograph has been taken very well as the quality of the photograph is very sharp and captivating. The children are all standing very close to each other and are attempting to get someone attention but the barrier of the barbed wires are stopping them from escaping. This could show that the photographers personal comment is that the young children in poverty have no money to escape from the life they have been born into. The facial expressions that these children have are very desperate and needy for help or even fresh and healthy food and water to eat and drink. By this photograph being in black and white makes the children's emotions that they are feeling stand out more and make the viewer sympathise with this photograph.
Fashion
These photographs are each fashion statement for the the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. The personal comment for these photographs are the personal view on how each era of fashion had affected the time of them and how much they had changed from each style.
The first era of fashion shown is the 60's this is the top left photograph. This photograph is of a young women the style is very short sophisticated hair with natural but iconic makeup. The clothing was very smart that ranged from high neck tops to pretty collar tops. But the main statement for this style was the skirts they were always very short and petite. This photograph has been edited to be black and white this is because in the 60's photographs were in black and white and it wasn't until the 80's where colour was favoured. This photograph stands out as the beauty of the photograph reflects the style of the 60's. The photograph is very well positioned and the natural and relaxed expression shows the suttle but stunning fashion of the 60's.
The next era is the 70's this style is shown in the photograph in the centre. This style was very big and crazy with the bulky hair, wide legged flared jeans and hippie styled blouses. This fashion brings out the disco pop in people. This photograph shows the facial expression of three young women who are smiling this brings out the wild and positive feel to this era and shows the transformation from very quite and simple look from the 60's to the bright disco look in the 70's.
The next era is the 80's and this photograph is shown in the top right photograph. The style for this era is tight disco pants and leggings with baseball tops and off the shoulder tops, leg warmers and bright head bands. This style is the 'fitness look' and includes very bright luminous colours. This photograph has been taken with a white background to allow the bright colours and bold style of the 80's to stand out. This style has been inspired by the previous era of the 70's as the crazy disco vibe has been carried on but developed.
Lastly the last era is the 90's this era is very retro and punk. The fashion statement for this era was checked shirts wrapped round the waist, denim rough looking shorts with boots. This style can also be very rock. This photograph has been taken in a location which shows the urban feel to this style. The colours of this photograph complement each other very well and aren't hugely bright unlike the 80's.
The environment
This photograph shows personal comment on the environment and plants because it shows the life cycle of a plant. It also shows the bigger message of how in society everything has to come to the end eventually. This photograph's colours are very dark but vibrant as the flowers are pink, yellow and green but the tones in them are dark and light this creates the flower to be very harsh. As well as showing its 3D nature. This photograph shows how beauty has come to an end and shows a stage where it begins to droop and slowly die. This photograph could be seen as very sad and emotional to some people as it could bring back memories they once had with someone. The position that the flowers have been placed in allows the flowers to droop over and also makes the photograph different to look at instead of viewing something in the centre. The background is dark which reflects the message but by it have shadowing makes the photograph unique and doesn't take the attention away from the main focus of the life cycle of the flowers. By using different sized flowers mixes it up and creates a photograph of art.
This photograph also shows the life cycle of a plant. What I especially like about this photograph is that the colours are very cold and frosty. The pale pinks and peaches are a stereotypical girls colour and shows the beauty that these flowers used to be. They also bring out a elegance and delicate side to these flowers. This photograph brings out texture really well as the frosty light shows the crisp and shrivelled texture that the flowers contain. The positioning of the flowers cover the whole photograph and reflect of the wall in the background this is very interesting to look at and show the dark side to this photograph. The personal comment of this photograph is the contrast of death and beauty.
This photograph shows the personal comment of how nature is stunning. This is through the grid method that these photographs have been presented in. Each photograph is bright and vibrant and shows a different angle of the stunning flower. This is very captivating and shows the personal comment of how looking after your environment creates beautiful plants that have a longer cycle of life. This photograph contrasts with the previous two photographers above as it is there opposites. I especially like how the flowers have hints of yellow and pink which don't over power the flowers and are all placed in order of where each part is on the actual flower.

This photograph is of the life cycle of a flower and represents the stage when the flowers are at there healthiest. These pretty flowers are presented by a photo joiner and create a normal photograph to stand out and look unique to look at. The colours in this photograph are very striking and create a warming tone to the photograph. This photograph isn't very complex but very simple which creates it to be unchallenging however the colours that have been captured and the composition of the photograph cause it to be a very strong photograph. An idea that I have that would be inspired by this photograph is that I would create a photo joiner that would show the contrast of beauty and death by using half a side each to show the transformation of the life cycle of a plant. This would fit in very well with my project of personal comment.
Stereotypes
This photograph shows the theme of stereotypes through a grid of 4 photographs. The use of the signs are there to show how each stereotype feels about the way society judge them. The main message of this photograph is that because we are humans we must be stereotyped. The duel grey background shows that this is something that this photographer disagrees with it also brings the focus onto the females holding the signs. The stereotypes shown are showing stereotypes of ethnicity, punk and teenager girls attention seeking this is a variety of stereotypes that anyone consuming this photograph can relate to if they want to. The photographs have been framed very well and include different angles to make the photograph look interesting to look at.This photograph has been created by the unknown graffiti artist 'Banksy' this shows a young child solider and the background is a child's crayon drawing. This shows the stereotype of how young children are meant to be young and have no responsibilities just to have fun. However in this world in particular countries children are forced to go off to war and fight for their country. This photograph shows the negative thoughts on this through the black and white child and how his childhood has been striped from him. In comparison with the colourful background on how he should be living his life.
This photograph was also made by the unknown artist of 'Banksy' this photograph shows the stereotype of 'Homeless people' this photograph is arguing that society think that the homeless just want money however all they want is a new life and change. This message is shown in the sign that 'Banksy' made. This photograph also shows how homeless are easily ignored. This is shown through the homeless man being drawn on is own in an isolated location.
By the homeless man being in black and white and the background being in colour shows how sad and lonely he is compared to the bright and big world behind him.
This photograph fits in my project of personal comment very well this is because it shows the representation of common stereotypes. The photographs are presented in a grid and have been edited to be bright and very clear to understand each stereotype. The top right is a very common stereotype of a 'Dumb Blonde' this is shown through the prop of bubble gum and her eyes looking upwards. Another example of a stereotype in this photograph is the bottom left hand corner of a stereotypical 'Geek' this is shown through the props a blazer and geek glasses which shows intelligence.
This photograph shows stereotypes which fits into my project of personal comment. This is because stereotypically ballet is a females sport/dance however this photograph challenges this with the male boy in the middle in his dance clothes. This is because there is both male and female talented ballet dancers in this world. I like how all the children have been positioned with their backs to the camera standing in a line it makes the message clearer and is a different way to capture a photograph. I also like the brightness of the photograph as it makes it look very clear and fresh. The bright pink tutu costumes are also very affective as they stand out from the basic location and the black leotards.
Eating Disorders
This photograph is a theme that is part of my personal comment project. This is because this photograph shows the personal comment of eating disorders. This photograph has been edited in black and white to show the negative affects of this topic. It also brings out the tones in this photograph which makes this photograph look very hard hitting. The measuring tape being wrapped around her mouth shows the message that her loosing weight is taking over her and is stopping her from eating a stable diet. This photograph is very dark and this gives the photograph an haunting affect to it.
This photograph also is for my unit2 project personal comment. This is because this photograph also shows eating disorders. This photograph is taken of a female this is because more females then male's suffer with this. The facial expression of this young female looks very weak and emotionless. This is because this topic causes people to be very unhappy with themselves and their bodies. The photographer has edited this photograph in black and white to show the negative affect of eating disorders. I really like how there are words and messages on her face to show what she is feeling and what is controlling her.
Fitness
This photograph shows the personal comment of fitness. This is because it shows the comparison of the eating disorder photographs above. By photographing a healthy body weight which is reachable for anyone who keeps active. The bright colours of the blue running vest stands out very well. Also I like how these photographs have been taken on location to show fitness in the summer. This photograph is also a inspiration and influential to anyone who wants to get fit.
This photograph also shows personal comment of fitness using a male as the model. I really like how this photograph is in black and white to bring out the tones in his muscles. Also like how the shadow in the background is the outline of the photograph. This is very captivating to look at and is very different which makes it look very professional and creative. This photograph shows the personal comment of if you work hard progress will be made.
This photograph shows the personal comment of fitness as well. This photograph is of a young female in motion of running. The photograph has captured this very well as the running technique is perfect. I really like how this photograph was taken in location and shows the progress if you keep fit. This photograph has been edited so well that it almost looks very surreal and cartoon like. I really like this photograph because of the positioning and angle of the photograph.
Healthy Eating
This photograph is a theme for my project of personal comment this is because is shows healthy eating and how if you eat healthy results like the photographs above will happen. I really the like the technique of this photograph being selective colour. This is because it makes this photograph look very creative and brings out the bright green of the apple very well.
This photograph also shows the personal comment of healthy eating and how it will create you to have a healthy body and lifestyle. This photograph is also black and white with the selective colour of the bright red cherry. The selective colour is very bright and shows the texture and detail very clearly in the cherry. I like how this photograph was taken very close up and look different to photographs of fruit in a fruit bowl. This is one of favourite photographs that will inspire me to take my own for my project.
No Makeup/Makeup
This photograph is a theme for my personal comment project. This is because it shows the stages of applying makeup and how natural beauty can be without or with makeup. The step by step photographs are very unique and are a more interesting way to tell a story than in one photograph. I really like the transformation of each photograph and how different each one is. The grid is a very popular way of presenting photography as is something that I especially like to present my work in.
This photograph is of a female who has makeup brushes and beauty appliances on her face around her. This photograph shows the message of how especially girls rely on makeup to cover up themselves and sometimes become very addicted to it. This photograph shows her natural beauty without wearing tones of makeup. This photograph has been taken with a white background to match the natural beauty of this model. The white background also allows the female model to stand out and her clear skin to shine.
This photograph shows the contrast between wearing no makeup and wearing makeup and what difference it makes. This photograph shows the personal comment on how makeup can change a whole persons image and can make them more confident in themselves. I like how the photograph has put both photographs together to allow the audience to see the transformation much clear. I also like how this photograph has light shining through it and the editing process hasn't been overly edited to show the accurate transformation.
